I’m in full agreement with Andy on this one. Fucked Up’s David Comes To Life is my favorite album of the year. I grew up listening to hardcore and punk bands and I’ve had many many different favorite hardcore bands of the years and this is definitely the best hardcore record I’ve heard in recent years.

Fucked Up - Turn the Season
The idea of year end lists has never worked for me. For one, “best” is too subjective. For another, understanding what I like about a piece of music has never corresponded with a calendar year or any other measure of time.So I just read and listen and dont offer my own.But Fucked Up’s latest record, David Comes to Life, is the record that breaks my rule. It is a special work of art: challenging yet inviting; dissonant yet melodic; punk yet pop; provincial yet expansive; heartbreaking yet warm. It’s an album made by a band defined by its risk taking, and maybe taking its greatest risk. And, in turn, recording what may ultimately be looked upon as a masterpiece. It’s not music for everyone (and the reviews were most definitely mixed), but it is music for me. By far the best record I heard in 2011.
